Factory to consider when choosing a shaft coupling: allowable speed

The allowable speed range of the coupling is calculated and determined according to the allowable linear speed of different materials of the coupling and the maximum outer diameter of the coupling. Different materials and varieties and specifications of the coupling speed range are different. Changing the material of the coupling can increase the allowable speed range of the coupling. The allowable speed for steel is greater than the allowable speed for cast iron.

For couplings used in working conditions of n≥5000r/min, influencing factors such as the centrifugal force on the outer edge of the coupling and the deformation of elastic elements should be considered, and dynamic balance should be done. High-speed couplings with non-metallic elastic elements should not be used. The elastic element deforms at high speeds. It is suitable for selecting high-precision flexible couplings. At present, high-speed couplings include diaphragm couplings and high-precision drum gear couplings.
